Spirit of the Gulf won the Regional Championship Trophy in a statewide competition with 16 other Sweet Adeline choruses.  SOTG scored a total of 665 points out of a possible 800 in music, sound, expression and showmanship.  In addition, SOTG won the Showmanship Trophy and earned the most points in all four categories.

142 members sang on Saturday under the direction of Master Director Karen Breidert of Fort Myers.  Ms. Breidert has directed SOTG since its beginning in January 2001, and is a member of the 2005 international winning quartet, The Buzz, as well as a past president of Sweet Adelines, International.

Winning this competition earns Spirit of the Gulf the privilege to compete in the international competition in Las Vegas, Nevada, in October 2006.  SOTG presently holds the ninth place medal in international competition won in Indianapolis, Indiana in October 2004.
