Spirit of the Gulf is a membership organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun. We currently have over 150 singers of all ages, all walks of life, and all parts of Florida as well as many snowbirds from "up North".
We are proud to have been voted Most Entertaining Chorus at our two International competitions in Las Vegas and Hawaii. In October, 2010 we competed in Seattle and finished in sixth place, our highest place yet. Between competitions we still love to perform in our local area. please check out our Hire Us section.
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of acapella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. Several times a year, we will get coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop, where we learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.
In the spring of every year,
Spirit of the Gulf has a special show. For 2011 it was Whole Lotta Harmony. We try to highlight young singers at this show. For this year it was a champion young women's quartet and a children's choir.
Most choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus.
Spirit of the Gulf currently is home to a number of wonderful quartets, and we are very proud of them!

Spirit of the Gulf is a chapter of Sweet Adelines, International, a non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
